Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art
The museum is made up of works by designers from the previous 50 years.
The MACBA was created by the North american architect Richard Meier and inaugurated in 1995. It features functions by modern designers such as Antoni Tàpies, Paul Klee, Francesc Torres, Mario Merz and Zush. Its collection targets the legacy of the next one half of the 20th hundred years, and seeks to determine a critical storage of the skill of the period, from the idea of view of the ethnic and political actuality of a specific city: Barcelona.
Basilica of La Sagrada Familia
In 1883 the amazing architect Gaudí decided to undertake this project, being successful Francisco de Paula, and done it until his loss of life.
Work to complete this great basilica still goes on today. The first architect to attempt this project at first prepared a neo-Gothic building. However Gaudi needed over pursuing his death, even though conserving the initial design he soon stamped his own private imprint and distinctive style on the building. He done only the chapel of San José, the crypt and the entranceway of El Nacimiento. The façades and the complete outside have a glorious profusion of brightly-coloured ornamental elements. There's a cryptogram in the La Pasión door.
Barcelona CathedralIt really is built on the webpage of an early on Religious basilica. Work commenced on the building through the Romanesque period, but it is principally in the Gothic style.
It has a sober outside, the only beautification being its vertical buttresses. The San Ivo access is a perfect exemplory case of the Catalan Gothic style. The inside naves are nearly all the same height, gives visitors the impression to be within a space. The medial side chapels come with an higher gallery, which affords the complete building a better sense of lighting and space. The inside of the lantern is confronted with wood coffering. The primary fa?ade was built much later (later 19th-early 20th hundred years) but is dependant on a job from 1408. The doorway from the cloister to the cathedral is specially worthy of noting, as is the chapel of Santa Lucia.
