Can Pere Antoni
Platja de Can Pere Antoni is situated at two kilometres east from Palma, just in front of the palm trees of Paseo Marítimo and the impressive silhouette of the gothic cathedral of Palma (La Seu) and the Episcopal palace.
The urban sandy area ends with breakwaters on both sides. Winds of the second and third quadrant permitting, the water is quiet enough to take a bath and it is the best moment to anchor a boat on a ground of sand and seaweed. The nearest port facilities are located at Club Nàutic Portitxol, at 0,1 nautical miles east.
The fact that Can Pere Antoni is just in front of the maritime façade of Palma explains that it is and urban beach with a massive influx of local people. You can park for free in the surroundings, but the area next to the beach is a pay-parking (ORA or public parking areas). You are recommended to take the public transport to reach this beach, the bus stop is at some hundred metres. Another option to reach the beach is walking or using the cycling lane to enjoy the beautiful view over the bay of Palma, el Parc de la Mar and the skyline of the buildings of the old part of Palma. The inhabitants of Palma and the tourists use the Paseo Marítimo, which goes from Porto Pi to Ciudad Jardín, for athletic and wheel sports.
Platja Oratori de Portals Nous
Platja Oratori de Portals Nous or Cala Portals Nous is situated at 11 kilometres from Palma, between the eastern breakwater of Puerto Portals and Bendinat. This sandy area which is not too big is characterized by its fine-grained greyish sand and in front of the coast there is Illa d’en Sales, where you are not recommended to anchor because of the sandbanks and rocks toward south and west. The best option for anchoring boats is between the small island and the beach. In this area there is a sandy ground with seaweed and a depth of three metres. On the eastern side of Platja Oratori de Portals Nous there are some rocks which emerge from the water and which you have to avoid. The navigators consider that Puerto Portals is one of the best infrastructures of the Balearic archipelago and Europe, where you can find some of the most beautiful and expensive boats of the Mediterranean basin, some of the best restaurants of the Balearic Islands and some popular night clubs ideal for young people who live here or visit Majorca. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs. The private car can be left on a free parking area next to the beach. You can also reach this beach with the public transport. The nearest bus stop is located next to the beach. These characteristics explain that the beach is very crowded by local visitors and tourists.
Cala Tuent is situated at 40 kilometres from Sóller, between Punta de sa Corda and Morro des Forat, and below the shade of Puig Major (1445 metres high), the highest mountain of the Balearic Islands.
This sea inlet continues for two hectometres toward the interior of Serra de Tramuntana, and it finishes on a semicircular beach between rocky areas with thick pine woods on the top. The sand of the coastline has also some pebbles and coarse gravel in the composition of the substract of this wonderful coastal stretch of Escorca.
The marine and underwater conditions are not safe for anchoring boats because it is exposed to the wind from the northwest-north-northeast, and this is why the coast is very dangerous for anchoring boats on a sandy ground with gravel and rocks with a depth that ranges from six to eight metres. At 5,6 nautical miles there is Port de Sóller.
The accessibility by car is easy following the signs. The driver will have to pay attention to take the deviation toward Cala Tuent, on a sinuous and descendent road. The private car can be parked in the surroundings of this stony area.
These characteristics explain that the beach is very crowded by local visitors and tourists. In Cala Tuent finishes also sa Costera, one of the most beautiful walks you can do in Majorca. You will start out from Mirador de ses Barques, located over the Port de Sóller and walk for five hours, and it is not too difficult.
