Platja de Muro
Platja de Muro is situated at three kilometres from the centre of Port d’Alcúdia, and at 15 kilometres from the centre of Muro, between the breakwater of s’Oberta del Parc Natural de s’Albufera, (which can be visited for free) and the natural border toward Platja d’Alcúdia, which is the prolongation of it. We have to say that the general name Platja de Muro is used for the 5,2 kilometres of coastline which belong to the municipality with the same name.
This quiet beach with fine-grained sand and which is not very deep for the relief of the parents and the tourist who crowd this place. You have to walk quite a lot before the water gets deeper. At the rear you will find the system of dunes and the different trails, with some pine trees and juniper woods, as well as the development of villages and hotels, a quality tourism with good hotels, most of the visitors are families.
The extensive sandy grounds, the very gentle slope the presence of sandbanks and the fact that it is open to the winds of the first quadrant explain that running aground is possible. This is why the navigator should stay away from the coast. The water is transparent, the swell is moderate or quiet, the sand is fine-grained and golden, ideal for all types of visitors.
The accessibility by car is easy following the signs. The private car can be left for free in the streets that take to this beach. The nearest bus stop is located at about a hundred metres from this beach if you chose the public transport.
Can Pere Antoni
Platja de Can Pere Antoni is situated at two kilometres east from Palma, just in front of the palm trees of Paseo Marítimo and the impressive silhouette of the gothic cathedral of Palma (La Seu) and the Episcopal palace.
The urban sandy area ends with breakwaters on both sides. Winds of the second and third quadrant permitting, the water is quiet enough to take a bath and it is the best moment to anchor a boat on a ground of sand and seaweed. The nearest port facilities are located at Club Nàutic Portitxol, at 0,1 nautical miles east.
The fact that Can Pere Antoni is just in front of the maritime façade of Palma explains that it is and urban beach with a massive influx of local people. You can park for free in the surroundings, but the area next to the beach is a pay-parking (ORA or public parking areas). You are recommended to take the public transport to reach this beach, the bus stop is at some hundred metres. Another option to reach the beach is walking or using the cycling lane to enjoy the beautiful view over the bay of Palma, el Parc de la Mar and the skyline of the buildings of the old part of Palma. The inhabitants of Palma and the tourists use the Paseo Marítimo, which goes from Porto Pi to Ciudad Jardín, for athletic and wheel sports.
Cala Torta or s’Aduaia is situated at 10 kilometres from Artà and it is the biggest beach of this municipality.
This beautiful sandy area between low rocky places and mounds of thyme, lentisc, small palms and some pine trees comes from a short sea inlet that finishes on a system of dunes.
This wild beach has a steep slope, it gets deep very soon as a result of the wind together with the swell that reaches the coast of Artà. The fact that the entrance of Cala Torta is very short explains that it is very exposed to the wind blowing from the northwest-north-northeast and east.
It is an excellent place for diving, as well as for anchoring boats on a sandy ground with a depth of five metres, with a manoeuvre that requires an enormous concentration. Nevertheless the beach is very crowded by local visitors and tourists and nudism is allowed. The nearest port facilities are located at Club Nàutic Cala Ratjada, at 5,3 nautical miles.
The accessibility by car is easy following the signs on a sinuous, steep and badly preserved road. The car can be left for free in the surroundings. It is possible to reach this beach by bicycle from Capdepera: 22 kilometres and in Cala Mesquida you have to take a mountain track with red points, located next to a souvenir shop, that leads to this virgin sandy area. You can also walk from Cala Mesquida.
Because of this beach?s situation and exposure to winds, you must pay attention to weather conditions that make swimming and mooring boats unadvisable.
